Kos Event
Went to an event tonight featuring Markos of DailyKos. He spoke for a few minutes then fielded some questions. There were a good many Atlanta bloggers, politicos, apparatchiks and some curious folks as well. One of a few popular discussions to be had in white liberal circles is the swing vote strategy also known as playing to the middle vs. to the base. Anyone reading this knows what these things mean.

I deleted a ten paragraph essay about my experience because after reading over it, I luckily was able to see that it doesn't take ten paragraphs to say that Kos, the bloggers at that site and presumably a large portion of the readership, are conservative Democrats that were part of the Dean campaign (which according to this Pew survey was 97% white) and are fervent believers in swing vote politics that diverts attention and resources away from populist policy formation and working class labor struggles and towards conservative Democratic candidates that take the black vote for granted and instead issue forth all manner of conservative rhetoric and ideas aimed at more conservative white voters.

When asked directly about the digital divide on the internet and what effect it is having on Left political debate and policy formation, Kos talked about the immigrants rights movement and other ways of organizing like cell phone calling trees. Yes, in response to queries about the digital divide, he told the Atlanta crowd about how blacks and hispanics have cell phones.
That says everything we need to know.

Digital divide? They've got cell phones.

There you have it.
